Our annual payment to the rightsholders is in June with a subsequent payment in December.
How and when is the remuneration distributed? You can get the short version here and find more detailed information in our rules of distribution below.
The reporting made by Radio Denmark, DR TV, TV 2, the commercial radio stations, and instore radio forms the basis for distribution of the remuneration.
After deduction of administration costs, Gramex distributes the remuneration equally among the rightsholders – 50% to performing artists and 50% to producers (record companies as well as individual producer rightsholders).
Remuneration received from the radio/tv stations that report to Gramex is distributed according to actual airplay.
The payment to producers as well as performers is based on what category of radio/tv station the music is used – nationwide, regional, local, instore etc. – and the total number of airplay minutes. The value for one minute of airplay on the different categories of radio/tv stations is recalculated each year according to the total amount of remuneration to distribute that year.
Furthermore, the performers’ remuneration is distributed according to a point system. This point system is based on the artistic responsibility of the performers and their role as a featured artist (FA) or non-featured artist (NFA) as well as the total number of performers (FA/NFA) on each track.
As a general rule, all performing artists – including bands, orchestras and choirs – are registered on an individual basis.
